Welcome Committee

The primary responsibility of the Welcome Committee is to make newcomers to our community feel appreciated and well-informed.  In order to carry out this responsibility, the chair of the committee will:

  1. Keep on hand in the clubhouse office a ready supply of stocked welcome baskets, which include useful household items (e.g. mugs, a light bulb) generally purchased from a dollar store, a File of Life packet which can be magnetized to the refrigerator, and toys (e.g. sidewalk chalk) if there are children in the family. The committee has a small budget with which to replenish supplies for the welcome baskets. Receipts should be turned in to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
  2. Upon receiving names and contact information from the Treasurer, call or knock to arrange a meeting time, and with at least one other member of the committee, take the gift basket to the home, check that the family has a Homeowner’s Manual in the unit (and, if not, explain how to get one from the Treasurer), explain about the message tube (and website, once it is in operation), answer any questions the residents may have, and warn them about sensitive issues in the community: parking, garbage, pets, and marijuana.
  3. Report once a month at the board meeting, or if unable to attend, submit a report a few days before the meeting to the board liaison for the committee.
